Spiral Wound Gasket

A gasket of alternating metal winding and soft filler, sized to the flange and rating per ASME B16.20.

The winding provides recovery under bolt relaxation and thermal cycling while the filler seals. Winding material follows the line material — 316L, duplex or nickel alloy — and the filler is chosen for temperature and media, typically graphite or PTFE. Inner and outer rings control compression and blow-out, so the ring materials belong on the purchase order next to the flange grade.
