Heat Number
The melt identifier stamped on each item and carried on the certificate, linking the part to its chemistry and test results.
Traceability is only real if the heat number is both hard stamped (low stress stamps on stainless and duplex) and recorded on the packing list, so a fitting found on site can be matched to its certificate years later. Where items are too small to stamp, the heat is carried on a tag and the bundle is kept intact — which is why re-bagging mixed heats on site destroys traceability.
